Alone?
“I think we’re alone, now. There doesn’t seem to be anyone around.” In the words of the 80's song from Tiffany, I guess they’re alone together? We keep seeing the hashtag #AloneTogether, this has quite a different meaning in our current world. Are we ever really alone? When you are alone, at least by yourself, aren’t you really alone with your own thoughts? Can you ever just shut off your thinking or clear your mind? Or, do you keep talking to yourself, chastising yourself, remembering the day, even reprimanding yourself for things you’ve ever said or done and just can’t get over it or forgive yourself? Things happen. We are going to make mistakes or say the wrong thing or even hurt someone’s feelings or worse. Can you ever just listen for the voice of God to come to you in your mind and into your heart? Psalm 46 tells us that “God is our refuge and our strength and a very present help in trouble.” Terrible things can happen; a loss of a loved one, loss of a job, a pandemic even and, yet, God gives us strength to carry on. Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything…” God is with us even when we are caught up in worry or fear or regret. God loves us and forgives us and gives us His hand, His strength, His courage to make it through the difficult times, the scary times, even when we can’t see a way forward. The help of God is greater than any crisis that could happen. Psalm 46, “Be still and know that I am God” Isaiah 41:10. “Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you.” You’ll never be alone when you ask God into your life. He is right there. Trust Him and open His word to see what He has to say. He has good plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11) Dan Smith RMCTN Colorado Springs Station Manager "Enjoy Life. Consider Eternity"
