I say “hi” to butterflies when I’m out in the garden working. There are so many shapes and sizes and colors. They’re just beautiful and flit around from here to there with nowhere to go, and no time restraints. That is, except, the Monarch butterfly. God sends them on a huge round trip for thousands of miles each year. From Canada, through the United States and down into Mexico, Monarchs have been migrating along these routes for an untold number of years.
These are insects, bugs if you will, and yet God has made them beautiful and given them purpose. Maybe not quite as good as bees, but butterflies certainly do their fair share to help pollinate fruits and crops. Their beauty certainly makes up for any lack in efficiency. The Monarch goes through great changes in their life cycle. From a tiny egg, to a caterpillar, then a chrysalis and then finally a beautiful butterfly. It’s called metamorphosis, and as God transforms a butterfly He also transforms us. Dean Taylor notes in one of his writings that when we ask the Lord into our lives He changes us, transforms us into the person He wants us to be become. Our life is changed and when we keep the Lord in our hearts, our friends and family can actually tell the difference in us. Our outlook certainly changes, our feelings and expectations change and maybe we carry that new found hope and joy on the outside as well! Help a friend or loved one or even a stranger to know God’s Love and salvation and see if you can’t help but see a transformation in them!
