God's Love Doesn't Need To Be Defended!

There is really nothing more powerful in this life than the love of God. When we get a true revelation of God’s love we don’t operate from a place of “have to” but a place of “want to” because his love is so wonderful.

One of the most amazing characteristics of God’s love, and even God himself, is that he doesn’t need to be defended. Many times in the world we live in we get offended and feel the need to “make” people understand that God’s love is not what people assume it is. ALWAYS remember that those feelings are yours and not God’s. He is not pacing back and forth in heaven trying to strategically think about how He is going to convince humans that His love is real, amazing and super helpful in this life.

There are, however, some things that we can do each day to SHOW God’s love in operation in our own lives.

1. Love each other
We get so twisted in trying to get other people to see God’s love but can’t even love one another in the CHURCH! We get offended and think, “That person should know better!” The problem is that we all have issues, bad days and can do/say things that can be hurtful. When we forgive and love one another, we exhibit actions that draw people to Christ even as we are dedicated to love one another.

2. Love yourself
Healthy love for self only comes from a focused and intentional relationship with Jesus. People are turned off by arrogance and thinking that you are better than everyone else. That love comes from a place without a true knowledge of God’s love. When we see and understand that God loves us, we are proud to be who we are and can love others BECAUSE we love ourselves. You can never know what a healthy view of yourself, in the context of God’s love, can do for others and how they see themselves.

3. Love those who hate you
I left this one for last because it is probably the hardest thing of all to do! It is relatively easy to love people who we think love us back. The amazing thing is that this kind of love is not something we can muster in our flesh. It is TRANSFORMATIONAL love that can only come from God working through us and is PURE because it is not something that we would normally do. The best kind of love is the kind that confuses people and makes them wonder why we love them when we should hate them back.

Many people have used the term “love of God” for their own purposes and actually wounded people for their own gain. True followers of Christ need to evaluate their love for each other, themselves and those who hate them. It is a true reflection of how God loves us and can be a wonderful introduction for others to meet Jesus through our intentional actions!

Have a great day and, as always, we are praying for you!
