God knows who we are and how we’ve lived our lives and yet, He loves us and forgives us, in spite of all that! God is wonderful. The Heart of God welcomes us all. How can we open our hearts and learn to forgive ourselves or others who may have done something or said something hurtful to us or someone we care about?
In Mathew 18:22 Jesus says that we should forgive each other 70 by 7 times. It’s true some people may be thoughtless and say something mean and hurtful or perhaps they really mean to hurt us, but we can’t go on living our lives being angry or holding on to a grudge. It’s only hurtful to us. The only way to get past those feelings is to consciously make a decision to forgive that person. Even if that person has done something hurtful and has never apologized, it has to start with us. To forgive and let go will change your life. Jesus is Perfect. The rest of us have made mistakes along the way. Thankfully, God forgives us and although we may forgive others, we still need to forgive ourselves and open our hearts to the Love and Peace that God brings.
