To find all of the locations of prayer and worship times from May 10th thru May 20th
Visit: 10daystogether.blogspot.com  This weekend, we were challenged by our senior pastor to find a Bible verse and then look for an open door to share that verse with someone. It seemed like a reasonable request, as part of our relationship with Jesus should be to share His love with the world around us and not just serve ourselves with the church. Our pastor then asked us to turn and pray with someone near us that we would hear from the Holy Spirit and give open doors to share those verses. I turned to Yolanda and started to pray and something came out of my mouth that was profound as I thought about our role in television and proclaiming the good news of Jesus every day of our working lives. I prayed, “...and God, please don’t let us thinking that we do outreach everyday with television get in the way of what we personally need to do in sharing your love and this Bible verse with someone who needs to hear about you.” After I said it, I started to chuckle, finished the prayer and had a revelation.
The primary reason why Yolanda and I have been in ministry our whole lives is to share Jesus with the world but sometimes, we can think that our religious job is fulfilling our personal responsibility to reach out to the world around us. We have invited and brought our neighbor to church a few times and prayed with people we have come in contact with, but I think anyone who is in full time ministry needs to realize that their job is not the same as their personal responsibility to share Jesus with the lost. Believe me, I have felt the stress of working in full time church ministry while organizing events for volunteers and church workers to reach out into the community with the intent of reflecting Jesus’ love. I have also now been doing para-church ministry for three years with some of those same stresses. My team and I work daily to keep our television station running and presenting the gospel over the airwaves in a way that honors Jesus and helps make it easy for someone to invite their neighbor to church. Essentially, we are in charge of outreach ministry to Denver, Cheyenne Wyoming and soon, Colorado Springs and Pueblo but that does not take the place of reaching out to people that we each come in contact with on a daily basis. Outreach to people around us is important not only in an organized sense with a church or Christian Television, as in our case, but also simply reaching out in an “unorganized” way. What I mean, is that we need to be asking the Holy Spirit to interrupt our day-to-day activities for the sake of a detour that leads us to people in need. The greatest enemy to loving someone like Jesus is not demonic oppression as much as it is putting our priorities in life above God’s. Today, go and be an “unorganized” blessing to someone who needs to see and hear how much Jesus loves his creation. If you are the one needing love, know that Jesus has everything you need to not only fill your cup but to overflow it so that you spill his love wherever you go. Praying for you today and God bless!
