For example, we try and fit scripture that we read to OUR beliefs instead of reading it in the context that it was given to help guide and direct our lives. We hear or see things in our culture that are directly against the Bible’s teachings and suddenly feel the need to defend Jesus by saying or doing something in our flesh and not asking God first if something even needs to be said or done. Or we can feel a tugging of the Holy Spirit in our lives in an area that needs to change but try and justify or keep ourselves on OUR track and not on God’s BEST track for us. No one is above doing things that serve or cater to our flesh first and God second. Today, dedicate yourself to doing three things. 1. Don’t be so busy that you forget to spend some time with Jesus. Whether that is praying, reading your Bible or just sitting quietly and listening to what He has to say to you. They are all important aspects of time spent with God. 2. Think of one area of your life that needs to change and take ONE STEP closer to giving it over to God. Maybe you have anger issues and on your drive home tonight, you are going to purpose yourself to not get angry with the traffic that decides to not travel at YOUR set speed. 3. Have patience with other followers of Christ who get it wrong at times...just like we all do. One of the most powerful ways to simplify your walk with God is to forgive and have patience with others. If you can do these three things this week, I guarantee the simplicity of the Gospel will flood your life and will start a pattern of freedom that you will not be able to contain! We love you all and are praying for God’s VERY BEST! Enjoy Life. Consider Eternity! John 3:16 – For God loved the world so much that he gave his only son so that whoever believes in him will not die but have eternal life.
This was the first Bible verse I learned growing up and its words still ring true today. This verse shows a love from God so deep that it crossed the line of normal thinking and “loving only when you feel loved” but gave a perfect example of transformational love. This week, we need to keep something in mind when we deal with people who may be scratchy in some way and hard to deal with and/or love. Remember that everyone acts out of two things when they are being difficult; past hurts they have never dealt with or a current pain, whether that be emotional or physical. This absolutely does not justify adverse actions or the way you are treated, but when you can put into context what someone may be going through it helps you adjust your actions with them to not just be RE-actions of their pain. Think back to a time when you didn’t have it all together and needed that same mercy from others. Maybe you are being the “scratchy” one to the people around you and need to tighten up the relationships around you and not let something that is going on in life affect the people around you. Maybe you just need to surrender an area of your life to God today. The Bible says in Isaiah 55:6 to seek God’s face while he may be found. That is for all of us any time we feel like life is getting out of control and is an important directive for us all. When we see that we are all just broken in varying levels with only God to lean on, our perspective changes from what we need to get from someone in a relationship to considering how we can be a blessing to the world around us. Have a great week! From your Rocky Mountain CTN Team |
