While doing my devotions yesterday, Psalms 27 was my Bible reading; I happened to read it in The Message version. It made me laugh, smile, cheer and feel loved all at the same time. As you read it, let it go deep. Enjoy! Yolanda Assistant Manager @ Rocky Mountain CTN 1 Light, space, zest— that’s God!
So, with him on my side I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing. 2 When vandal hordes ride down ready to eat me alive, Those bullies and toughs fall flat on their faces. 3 When besieged, I’m calm as a baby. When all hell breaks loose, I’m collected and cool. 4 I’m asking God for one thing, only one thing: To live with him in his house my whole life long. I’ll contemplate his beauty; I’ll study at his feet. 5 That’s the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world, The perfect getaway, far from the buzz of traffic. 6 God holds me head and shoulders above all who try to pull me down. I’m headed for his place to offer anthems that will raise the roof! Already I’m singing God-songs; I’m making music to God. 7-9 Listen, God, I’m calling at the top of my lungs: “Be good to me! Answer me!” When my heart whispered, “Seek God,” my whole being replied, “I’m seeking him!” Don’t hide from me now! 9-10 You’ve always been right there for me; don’t turn your back on me now. Don’t throw me out, don’t abandon me; you’ve always kept the door open. My father and mother walked out and left me, but God took me in. 11-12 Point me down your highway, God; direct me along a well-lighted street; show my enemies whose side you’re on. Don’t throw me to the dogs, those liars who are out to get me, filling the air with their threats. 13-14 I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with God.

3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. The devil will ALWAYS ask you rhetorical questions in life. He already KNOWS that he is defeated but he wants YOU to question what YOU know. I have a simple directive for you today that has a few meanings. DON’T. GIVE. UP. Don’t give up reading your Bible to know the heart of God. Don’t give up listening to the Holy Spirit and His direction for you. Don’t give up fighting against the devil each day (and recognize that he will attack you every day of your life). The reason why the devil attacks you is because of the authority over him that you inherently have when you became a follower of Christ. The devil will distract and ask questions, as he did with Eve, that will cause you to try and question what you believe and who you are in Christ. Don’t have a conversation with him, just tell him to SHUT UP and walk in the victory that is already yours today! You can do it and we believe that you are not just going to make it to heaven some day but that you are going to take as many people as you can with you! Have a great week! One of the most amazing characteristics of God’s love, and even God himself, is that he doesn’t need to be defended. Many times in the world we live in we get offended and feel the need to “make” people understand that God’s love is not what people assume it is. ALWAYS remember that those feelings are yours and not God’s. He is not pacing back and forth in heaven trying to strategically think about how He is going to convince humans that His love is real, amazing and super helpful in this life. There are, however, some things that we can do each day to SHOW God’s love in operation in our own lives. 1. Love each other We get so twisted in trying to get other people to see God’s love but can’t even love one another in the CHURCH! We get offended and think, “That person should know better!” The problem is that we all have issues, bad days and can do/say things that can be hurtful. When we forgive and love one another, we exhibit actions that draw people to Christ even as we are dedicated to love one another. 2. Love yourself Healthy love for self only comes from a focused and intentional relationship with Jesus. People are turned off by arrogance and thinking that you are better than everyone else. That love comes from a place without a true knowledge of God’s love. When we see and understand that God loves us, we are proud to be who we are and can love others BECAUSE we love ourselves. You can never know what a healthy view of yourself, in the context of God’s love, can do for others and how they see themselves. 3. Love those who hate you I left this one for last because it is probably the hardest thing of all to do! It is relatively easy to love people who we think love us back. The amazing thing is that this kind of love is not something we can muster in our flesh. It is TRANSFORMATIONAL love that can only come from God working through us and is PURE because it is not something that we would normally do. The best kind of love is the kind that confuses people and makes them wonder why we love them when we should hate them back. Many people have used the term “love of God” for their own purposes and actually wounded people for their own gain. True followers of Christ need to evaluate their love for each other, themselves and those who hate them. It is a true reflection of how God loves us and can be a wonderful introduction for others to meet Jesus through our intentional actions! Have a great day and, as always, we are praying for you! What does your life says about what is in your heart? The Bible says in Galatians 5:22-23, our fruit should be Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. If we are not exhibiting this fruit in our life, then what is in our heart that we need to allow God to change or take control of?
I know we have all heard people say or may have said ourselves, (When we want to justify our nastiness) "Well, that's just the way I am- I am being authentic and you will just have to deal with it or not be my friend/be around me". If we are followers of Christ, that should not even come from our mouths. Let's take a moment and reflect how we have lived our life today and be real with ourselves that those are the things that are in our heart. Can't sleep? Need Prayer? From 10:30pm-1:30am MST, Christian Television Network produces a live overnight prayer program called You And Me.
