Surrender to God is very simple in it’s directive but can seem complicated because of programmed ideas associated with our everyday lives. When we start a new job, for example, there are expectations and processes that are different than a previous employer. We need to learn how to interact with that new team and their heart behind what they do. Moving from being someone who serves themselves to someone who serves God can be a challenge. Even the process of God revealing an area of life that needs change can be hard but necessary. I think it is important to understand a key truth when it comes to surrendering areas of your life to God. In fact, there is one simple truth that people who surrender to God need to realize. When you have a moment of revelation about an adjustment you need to make in your relationship with Jesus and decide to live in a different direction, there are probably people around you who have not had that same revelation and can seem like a challenge to deal with. The spectrum of people you will interact with can be those who don’t know Jesus yet and are still in full fight mode with themselves and everything around them while trying to find peace in all the wrong places. You can also have people who have given their hearts to Jesus but do not operate from a position of love and mercy. They don’t have a revelation of the joy of the Lord and the power that comes from a realization of the mercy that God showed THEM at some point in their lives. When we surrender to God's perfect peace, we can be challenged by the ignorant actions of people around us. Surrender to God is not just deciding that what we were doing was wrong but also keeping our eyes on Jesus and not on the challenging relationships that will be more evident in a life of surrender. Please also consider the example you will be setting for people who are possibly still bound in some way to the lies of the devil. Your example may be exactly what people around you need and will help them make the same change you did someday. Learn to live in the comfort and peace of knowing that God has others, as much as you, in his hands. In fact, there may be something that you are doing right now that is being a challenge to another follower of Christ that THEY have already had a revelation about and changed. Have a great day and believing for God to reveal himself to you in a new way not to discourage you in how far you have to go with him but to help you see how far you have come and the power of submitting everyday to God and his will.
